My project for course: Geometric Pattern Design. Chinese-Russian folklore mix-up

It is really good course, really detailed and for me it was pushing to experiment with things i never did before - like using mockups. The encouragement from teacher Matacho and advice really helps! Especially when your idea is a bit too big.

Here comes the result. No really Matacho style:) And geometry seems to elude me too, freehand wins. I did try!

My main idea was to marry Chinese and Russian traditional elements, so here is an attempt to let Siri-bird fly over Chinese auspicious clouds and mixed style hills. The apple tree is Russian folklore element, but I tried to depict it in spring bloom style as in meihua paintings.

After finishing the main element, I could not help but play around with it as much as I could :)
Reds and blues are traditional for both cultures, but they would chose different combinations in case of multicolor pallet, so no cultural allusions there (at least not consciously).
