Originally a writer and a singer I did a few hundred water paintings, all belonging to the series "My home is my monster" in a period of about 10 years. The idea: The monster, place of imagination and irritation, of neurotic fears. A playmate present day and night, who eventually becomes one's family. An ode to the (lost) child in us.
As a trained archaeologist I am also very interested in rituals and gender and therefore did some performances in those fields.
When the pandemic hit us, I looked for new ways besides my writings to express myself and started to paint again more often, but now with acrylic paints, but also with my menstrual blood and makeup.
I love being playful in my arts and not knowing the outcome when I start to do things. I love that my art can often surprise me.
