I'm a self tought painter. When I was a teenager I wanted to become an artist so I tried some art classes at my high shcool, but lost interest in it quickly because they didn't cater to my desires to paint in traditional and classic styles. So I switched over to filmmaking as it combined most of my artistic interest, meaning visual, musical and story. After some years of on and off schooling and life stuff I finished film school. But painting has always sat in the back of my mind and in 2019 I picked it up again, but this time with acrylics which was new to me. I mostly paint landscapes inspired by the nature of my home country of Iceland. I've always wanted to paint portraits but was afraid to even start because I thought I would be rubbish at it. And so in November of 2022, I did my first portrait and have been practising ever since. I'm taking these courses here to help me get back into oil painting as it has been over a decade since I painted in oil and I really miss it.
