Juliana Serejo Galeotti

Originally from Vitorino Freire - Maranhão, Brazil. A state that was a trading point for cane sugar between the Portuguese and the Dutch and a home for many indigenous tribes. The years spent away from home have ignited a sense of pride and passion for South American art, culture, music and language.

Artist Statement:
Coming from a country like Brazil, my artwork is influenced greatly by nature and the natural world. Most importantly, coming from a mixed and culturally rich background, I’m highly influenced by the texture and patterns of Portuguese mosaic tiles and indigenous “grafismos”, vibrant colors, themes, mystical and ancestral imagery, and the overall playfulness and language of Brazil and South America.
