Hi!
I have lived most of my life wanting to live as an artist. Somewhere between the years 2014 to 2016, the tedium of work and other life changes pulled me to actively engage my creativity. During that time I slowly developed what I would call the pieces of the language I want to use when communicating through my artwork. I found my way through sketches and paintings in acrylic/pencil on paper and canvas, but nothing noteworthy, at least in my estimates. In 2016 I acquired a popular digital painting software and committed to learning how to express my feelings and ideas through the medium.
Lately, clay has been calling me. I have been experimenting with the medium and now recognize the benefits of formal training such as yours.
But back to my art, my inspiration comes from my desire to tell stories with color and symbols woven in themes accepted and or tabooed. Last year, 2021, I found the courage to show three of my paintings at the New Blood Emerging Artist show at the Caribbean Museum of the Arts on the island of St. Croix U.S. Virgin Islands. I was told then that my work is very good.
My future goal is to develop a lifestyle where the product of my creativity supplies my daily need. I thank you for providing a space where my curiosity could be turned into a tangible skill set.
In my spare time, I draw on my computer, sketch, or assist in teaching martial arts at the King Cobra Taekwondo School at Beeston Hill Health and Fitness Complex. I am also an aspiring thespian, who loves the benefits of yoga and mastering the fine art of being cool water in the face of life’s challenges.
Perhaps my favorite works art are found in the forms of my two amazingly beautiful children, I am the proud father, Maakheru- Ra Edwards, 19, and Onile S. Edwards, 12.
