Dita Kalniņa

I come from a very small country Latvia. It's located near Baltic sea. Latvia is surrounded by lots of forests and large wild meadows. It has beautiful lakes and rivers and large coast line. Every year we experience change of four seasons and therefore out of everything I appreciate change the most. Honestly, I couldn't live without changing my surrounding and myself to get that excitement to wake up and start a brand new day.

I developed interest for art as a kid when my granny first took me to art school. I've touched bases on many art forms - painting, drawing, compositions, graphic design, ceramics, composition and others. My urge for knowledge and my many interests never allowed me to develop one form of art in master level and now as a grown up I've learned art of patience, determination and commitment and I want to go back to basics and practice my art skills more.

My biggest inspiration is nature, especially flora. I've worked in flower industry on and off for many years.
I'm moved by wild nature - foggy mornings, moody days, mist and frost, falling leaves, earthy smells and colours, wild flowers blooming in summer heat.

Currently located in Auckland - New Zealand. Overwhelmed by extraordinary flora and nature all around me.

I still do have many many interests and I do quite a lot of crafts. I'm a florist, I make hand poured candles, I've been experimenting with recycling my own paper, very interested in natural fabric dyeing, painting, growing succulents and houseplants.
