Today, most children have a computer at home or have access to one in other settings, such as school.
For a child to have access to this type of technology, it is a great challenge for both parents and teachers, since they have to be constantly updated to accompany their intellectual development and alert them so that they do not have access to unwanted content. What the TIC's propose to us is a correct use of that information to which we fear access.
As future teachers we must be aware of all the changes that occur at a technological level, in order to provide our students with the possibility of access to these new technologies that are increasingly in demand in all aspects of human social life. .
When we mention children's computer games, many will disagree and argue that nothing compares to a child's imagination and that this favors non-socialization. Although it is agreed that nothing compares to the imagination of a child, we must clarify that many of these games favor socialization, it must be remembered that they are didactic games.
What the ICTs intend with children's games is to provide the possibility for children to manipulate a computer. We must also remember that handling a mouse or keyboard helps to stimulate fine motor skills, that is, that which involves manipulating the hands with small elements, just as learning to handle a pencil does. Also, ICTs introduce children to new technologies, which, as we said before, are increasingly required. In this way, it makes the process of the technological era gradual and allows you to incorporate knowledge that will serve you in the future.
Although those who are in favor of new technologies, there are those who are in opposition or do not completely agree with the introduction of children so early in this system that in some way it is a form of social bonding.
Next, we will mention some of the disadvantages caused by the use of tics:
Regarding learning
Since cooperative learning is based on social attitudes, a lazy society can influence effective learning.
Given the rapid advancement of technologies, they tend to be discontinued very soon, forcing equipment to be frequently updated and new software acquired and learned.
The cost of the technology is not negligible, so it is necessary to have a generous and frequent budget that allows updating the equipment periodically. In addition, it is necessary to have safe places for storage to prevent theft of equipment.
Regarding the teachers:
Continuous training of teachers is necessary so you have to invest resources (time and money) in it.
Frequently the teacher feels overwhelmed by his work, which is why he often prefers the classical method, thus avoiding commitments that demand time and effort.
There are very particular situations where an animation, video or presentation can never surpass the real world, which is why experimentation is necessary that can only be achieved in a well-equipped laboratory or classroom.
Regarding the students:
Given the amount and variety of information, it is easy for the student to get distracted and waste time navigating through pages that are of no use to them. The student may lose his goal and his time.
If peers are "lazy", cooperative learning may not take hold.
Interest in studying may be replaced by curiosity and exploration on the web in non-academic activities such as fun, music, videos, etc.
Given the amount, variety and immediacy of information, children may feel saturated and in many cases refer to “cut and paste” information without processing it.
As we appreciate in this quote, they are varied and even some may be obvious, what we do highlight is that both for those who use it willingly and for those who are against it but must use it because it is necessary to join a system, especially the Education that demands many jobs with this type of technology, must be constantly updated, which not only requires time but a significant sum of money. What we mean by this, that the current economy is a determining factor both for the acquisition and for the updating of these technologies, that although they can be acquired, there will always be a disadvantage with the technologies that are launched on the market.
