My project for course: Introduction to Puppet Making for Stop Motion

Puppet1 became a different character, much younger, despite trying to follow my own character design! I think my balsa carving skills need improving. I decided to carry on with the process and see what she turned into. I couldn't face the paper pattern phase for the clothing so I made the clothes direct onto the puppet.
Wanting to get closer to my character designs, I went on to make a second puppet of an Old Lady and decided to skip the "skin" on the face and carve and paint directly onto the balsa.
Here are some photos of Puppet 2. And a final animated piece using the rig. I use magnetic tie downs which require metal feet - so I haven't finished her shoes yet.
