I want to understand visually how the advances in GDP in some countries of South America were translated into life quality, specifically in life expectancy. So first I built two graphs: one that describes the evolution of GDP per capita since 1970 through today and another one that describes the evolution of life expectancy for the same period.
So I went a bit frustrated because it was hard to compare the influence of GDP in gains of life expectancy. So I decided to take another approach, a bit more dificult: to show both data at the same time, including time in my visualiation. So I programmed a visualisation in p5.js (language derived from Processing) so the user could travel from decade to decade to see details on how a certain country could or could not convert wealth into quality of life in a certain period.
The result is in the link below, and I am a bit more happy now. So you can drag the slider and move along with the decades and its data.
