We are looking for a creative UI Designer who will own and shape the user interface design of our digital products. If you have the ability to convey messages and information through illustrations, graphics, data visualization, and messages, we’d like to know more from you.
We are open for both junior and mid profiles, and offer a salary range of 30K and 38K Euros (depending on your experience). We are open to exploring full-time and part-time contracts options (with a minimum of 50% time dedication) depending on the candidate's needs.
We also offer Work From Home, and we are currently hiring in Spain, Portugal and the UK, so you will be very welcome to join us if you live and are eligible to work in any of these 3 countries.

2. A day in the life of a Designer at Vizzuality
You will be collaborating with a cross-functional team, including designers, researchers, engineers, scientists, communications, business developers, and project managers to ensure our branding is consistent and appealing, balancing elegant and engaging design with performance and effective data-driven insights, to make our projects attractive to our audiences.
You will also be using your experience to develop wireframes, visual elements and high fidelity prototypes to effectively conceptualize and communicate design strategies to clients and partners all around the world.
Some examples of specific tasks include:
-Design user-centered interaction models, wireframes or screen mockups
-Design logos, icons, grids and patterns for digital-interactive interfaces
-Meeting with the project team for feedback, editing designs and to solve complex issues, such as interaction models and data visualization or aligning visual designs with website functionalities
-Developing prototypes to uniformly integrate logos and brand images to other products and platforms, including social media
-Create design systems and UI kits, that can be used along the project lifecycle
-Create and organize production assets
-Work on email marketing items, presentation materials and interactive event materials
3. These are some of the things you will do and achieve in your first year at Vizzuality.
In your first month:
-You will get to know your colleagues and some of our partners and clients.
-The design functional area will show you our workflows and the project’s lifecycle. With the support of your peers, you will get hands-on exposure to a couple of projects and will help them with the different challenges and opportunities.
-Depending on the project needs, you could be working with your peers in user interfaces iterations, feedback understanding, all the way through presentation proposals.
During the following months:
-You will have a solid understanding of the project’s lifecycle and the company’s culture.
-You will be working alongside one of your peers in a few projects.
-You will participate in workshops and create visual systems and guidelines to ensure a successful implementation of the products.
-Along with the day-to-day design, you will be also encouraged to take part in the initial conceptualization process (user research activities, turning user feedback into actions, design thinking, etc.)
-You will gradually, and with your peers’ support, become the main designer in some of our projects. You will take ownership of your work and responsibility from conceptualization through completion every step of the way partnering with a multidisciplinary team.
By the end of the first year:
-You will be actively participating in internal initiatives to help your design team flourish and improve the company's processes.
-You will be creating guidelines and documentation and collaborating to create procedures and methodologies to standardize the way we work.
4. Skills and experiences we are looking for in a candidate
(*) Even if you think you don't tick all the boxes below, we'd still love to hear from you. Nobody checks every box, and we are looking for someone excited to join the team and aligned with our purpose!
We are looking for someone with relevant experience in User Interface to shape and own the user interface design of our digital products, ideally with 2 to 5 years working in an agency environment.
Must have skills and experience:
-UI and visual design skills for various interfaces, such as websites, mobile devices, apps, and other devices.
-Experience submitting visual design concepts for brainstorming and approval in a timely manner
-Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Invision, Adobe, or similar
Experience collaborating with internal teams and other profiles to define user interface requirements
-Good organization skills to juggle and prioritize multiple projects while effectively managing timelines and expectations
-Good communication and storytelling skills with the ability to communicate design decisions and influence your team and clients
Anything else to impress us? Over time, we’d like this role to take on more responsibilities. If you have experience across one/some/all of the areas below or would like to learn more about any of them, we would love to hear more about it!
-Knowledge in high fidelity prototyping tools (i.e. Framer, Principle, or cartographic tools like Mapbox)
-Experience with illustration, animation and/or branding.
-Front end technology knowledge (ie. CSS, HTML, Javascript, etc.)
-Analyzing data with an eye for translating it into visualizations.
-Your curious mind is keen on learning different scientific topics and emergent technologies to create solutions.
-Experience working on disciplines such as Supply-Chain Management, Geography, GIS, Economics, Systems Science, or related fields would make us lose our minds.
