Project selected for the thirteenth Brazilian Design Biennial.
Born and raised in the Amazon, the Brazilian product designer Cinthya Margalho moved to Italy to specialize in Fashion Design and from there came the idea of developing a product to engage the Amazonian communities.
The iandé project, which means “we” in Tupi-Guarani, arises with the goal of involving not only the communities of the Amazon, but also respecting the entire production chain through valuing people and the environment. The handmade process begins in Brazil, goes through Italy and ends in Switzerland, where currently her bag is sold.
The demand of the creator of the brand was to develop an icon for the bags’s clasp inspired by the concept of the name and also the communities of the Amazon. The challenge was to create an identity that represented this universe, and that could also be inserted into the contemporary and refined environment of Switzerland.
Neutral colors inspired by the environment and Amazon’s handicraft and a clean typography dialogue with the icon that links the boldness of the product in contrast to a minimalist identity.
Concept 3D by Leonardo Bortolussi.
