Introduction
Aanvankelijk dacht ik dat ik een album zou kiezen om te illustreren, maar na wat nadenken koos ik toch voor een liedje. Uiteindelijk koos ik het nummer 'Strawberry Sunscreen' van 'LostBoyCrow' als referentie, omdat het een persoonlijke favoriet is. Ik hou van feelgoodmuziek. :)
Originally I thought I would choose an album to try to illustrate, but after some thinking I settled for a song instead. I ended up choosing the song ‘Strawberry Sunscreen’ by ‘LostBoyCrow’ as my reference since it’s a personal favorite. I like feel good music. :)

Er is een populaire app onder illustratoren die als referentie naar een 3D-model fungeert. Die werd gebruikt als basis voor de tekening.
Ik geef de voorkeur aan digitale illustraties, dus heb ik hiervoor ook een app gebruikt. Hieronder staan de namen van beide apps.
- MagicPoser (voor referentie over hoek en belichting.)
- Procreate (Ter illustratie.)
There’s a popular app amongst illustrators that work as 3D model referencing. That was used as the base of the drawing.
I prefer digital illustrations so I also used an app for this. Below are the names of both apps.
- MagicPoser (For angle and lighting reference.)
- Procreate (For the illustration.)
Stap 1: Het model
Step 1: The Model
Eerlijk gezegd schets ik meestal gewoon wat er in me opkomt en ga ik daar dan mee aan de slag. In dit geval had ik al in gedachten wat ik wilde, dus ging ik meteen naar de app 'MagicPoser' en ging ik aan de slag om het model in de gewenste houding en hoek te plaatsen.
Honestly, most of the time I just sketch whatever comes to mind first and just go with that. In this case, I already had in mind what I wanted so I went straight to the ‘MagicPoser’ app and got to work on arranging the model in the pose and angle I wanted.
Stap 2: De schets.
Step 2: The sketch.
Ik kon nu de schets maken. Het model dat ik gebruikte was een man, dus ik moest wat verhoudingen aanpassen aan wat ik wilde, namelijk een vrouw. Na het toevoegen van nog een paar details had ik mijn schets.
I could now do the sketch. The model I used was male so I had to alter some proportions to what I wanted which was female. After adding a few other details, I had my sketch.
Stap 3: De achtergrond.
Step 3: The Background.
Ik begon met het veranderen van de canvaskleur en het toevoegen van de wolken uit de schets. Dit werd mijn achtergrond.
I started off by changing the canvas color and adding the clouds from the sketch. This became my background.
Stap 4: Lijntekeningen en kleuren
Step 4: Line art and Coloring
Ik baseerde mijn schets op de lijntekening en gebruikte daarbij mijn basiskleuren.
Basing myself off of my sketch, I drew the line art and followed up with my base colors.
Stap 5: Extra's.
Step 5: Extras.
Vervolgens heb ik wat kleur aan de huid toegevoegd, zoals blush en lippenstift, en heb ik wat glas en plastic op de glazen en het potje ingekleurd. De laatste twee heb ik in een aparte laag onder "hard licht" gedaan.
Next, I added some color to the skin such as blush and lipstick, and filled in what would be glass and plastic on the glasses and jar. The last two were done on a different layer under “hard light”.
Stap 6: Verlichting.
Step 6: Lighting.
Toen dat klaar was kon ik de verlichting toevoegen.
Once that was done I could add the lighting.

En natuurlijk de songtitel voorop.
And of course the song title in front.
Stap 8: Details.

Tenslotte wilde ik een korrelige afwerking, dus voegde ik een ruiseffect toe.
And finally, I wanted a grainy finish so I added a noise effect.

My Reasons.
Om de een of andere reden denk ik altijd aan het strand als ik dit nummer hoor, hoewel het er eigenlijk niets mee te maken heeft. Toch wilde ik dat het die sfeer zou hebben, dus heb ik het kleurenschema en thema daarop afgestemd. Ik ben tevreden met het eindresultaat, dus ik hoop dat anderen het ook mooi vinden. Dankjewel. :)
For some reason I think of the beach whenever I hear this song, although it doesn’t really have anything to do with it. Still, I wanted it to give that vibe so I chose the color scheme and theme accordingly. I feel content with the final project so I hope others like it too. Thank you. :)
