Due to the narrow proportions of the space, and with the intention of taking advantage of the rear patio, the kitchen is open to the center of the restaurant. This creates a dining area at the front with direct access to the street, and a more intimate patio area at the rear. The front area culminates in the drinks bar, and in the rear patio, a garden bench accommodates a table for larger groups.
To enclose the kitchen, a lightweight solution was chosen that allowed air and light to flow through, using parota wood and wicker panels. The structure rests on low masonry walls, and the kitchen becomes the main feature. It acts as a link between the front and back areas of the restaurant and encourages interaction between the kitchen and diners.
The project seeks a fresh and casual atmosphere through the use of regional artisanal materials, primarily clay flooring, parota wood, and copper. The wooden structure consists of double columns suspended above the low walls by metal anchors. Dim lighting contributes to the desired atmosphere and includes inky bamboo pendants and copper pendants and flying buttresses.
