My name is Kristína and I am a Textile and Fashion designer.
I grew up in a small village in central Slovakia surrounded by skilled craftsmen, historical traditions and beautiful nature. Wherever I go I carry this legacy with me. My work strongly reflects the place where I come from.
I completed MA in Textiles at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, Slovakia and one year study of Material & Medium based art at the Oslo National Academy of Arts, Norway. During my studies I undertook an internship at Danish studio Beck&Kinch, where I was producing custom-made, hand-woven fabrics for fashion houses such as Chanel and Dior. I have also gained my experiences as a Visual researcher at Studio Edelkoort/ TRENDUNION in Paris. After completing my studies, I started to teach at The International Fashion Academy IFA in Paris, where I have been teaching Textiles and Colour Theory and Design.
My work was exhibited during Milan Design Week, Paris Design Week, London Design Week and London Fashion Week. My projects have been featured in magazines such as Vogue, Elle Decor, Forbes, Konfekt.
In 2019, I founded my own studio which focuses on slower pace, fewer pieces produced, patience, investment of time in the production and interdisciplinary collaborations. Taking inspirations from people who are dedicated to craft techniques and to bring these fascinations into the modern world to enrich our everyday’s life is the main vision of the studio. With the help of local craftswomen, each garment is built from the yarn. The process starts from creating the warp, setting up the looms, weaving the fabric, pattern cutting to handstitching the final garment. The garments are versatile and made to last for generations.
