I’m a Dublin-born illustrator with over thirty years’ experience in editorial illustration. I’ve lived and worked in London, Sydney, Hong Kong and Barcelona. My illustrations have appeared in top level publications worldwide, and have won awards from Creative Quarterly, the Society of News Design, Communication Arts, 3x3, The 4As, ICAD, IGI, the British Society of Magazine Editors, and the AOI/Directory of Illustration.
I love the variety of work that illustration can provide, and I like to experiment in a wide range of media, but conceptual illustration is the core of my work. This focus has given me the opportunity to illustrate over 150 covers for The Economist, as well as covers for Newsweek, L’Express, Volkskrant, The New Statesman, Die Weltwoche, Nature and many others.
I’ve been fortunate to work with Time, GQ, Mojo and the Washington Post; on major campaigns for Smirnoff, Vodafone, Ted Baker and Merck; on theatre posters, on the identity design for the Mandarin Oriental’s MO bar, and many more challenging and engrossing projects than I could list here.
I’ve enjoyed presenting workshops and talks around the world, and I look forward to introducing you to my working methods, and the insights I’ve gained in over three decades as a busy editorial illustrator.
