THE CHALLENGE
Pôle Emploi – the French governmental agency for unemployed people – wanted to develop and design a new web app interface for a self-service MSP printer that would allow any unemployed person to walk in to their agency and be able to log in and scan their documents themselves, without the help of an agent. The final app would be used by more than 3 million people in 1,000 agencies throughout France. This was a new customer and no brand guidelines were available.
THE SOLUTION
After researching the client’s existing mobile apps and websites to come up with a colour palette that would work on a printer screen with a low contrast, I submitted various UI designs to the client to choose from and worked along a developer to produce 2 versions of the app: one for the unemployed and one to be used by Pôle Emploi’s agents.
THE RESULT
An easy-to-use application defined by a clear UX, where the use of icons helps the user navigate through the app and some animations were also created to provide further guidance to the user. The final version of the app was deployed to 8 agencies during 6 months for final testing, before going live to all 1,000 agencies.
