Introduction
this is apart of my ongoing learning and I am often turning to use my little companion Luna as my subject matter.
Stone Lithography is a form of printmaking whereby you make an image on a limestone matrix.
I've added a link below to a youtube description of the process by a studio based in Scotland and a link to a page from the Metroplolitan Museum of Art using Glifs

Supplies

Acids, Gum Arabic, Turps & rags etc
Lithographic press

Luna Transfer Drawing
this drawing was done on cartridge paper treated with Gum Arabic using Korn's crayons No's 3 & 5, and also using scratching marks into the crayon to indicate hair.

Transfered to stone
I placed the drawn image face down on the prepared stone surface and wet the paper from behind.
Then ran the it through the press with pressure to apply the image to the stone.
I may have applied a little too much pressure & moisture.
The cartridge paper came apert when being peeled away from the stone.
So had to be gentle at this stage.
the paper did crease during the process and some of the drawing material moved.
But overall I was happy with the outcome as this was my 1st time attempting this method.

1st Print test
Before I went through the process of setting & inking the image one the stone I did rework the Image by drawing directly on the stone to fill in some areas around the eyes for example, and disguising some of the crease marks and other additions. But I didn't remove or hide all the effects created by the transfer as I felt they added to the image.

Final Image
I only printed about 3 final prits of Luna, as they are only for my enjoyment and my learning portfolio.
I am happy with how it turned out considering this is the first time I have ever tried this transfer method.
I do Plan to try this again in the near future.
