Both Alan's courses are absolutely great! This one is very clear, full of useful information, and inspiring!

Alan Coulson presents a very interesting course that takes one step by step through the entire process of producing a portrait. His method of tuition is very enabling in that he presents a way in which anyone with the most basic level of skill could get started right away - he basically takes away the excuse for procrastination. Alan is such a gentle and encouraging soul that you will feel yourself to grow with confidence as you watch his course, even before you lift your pencil and brush.

Alan goes into great detail explaining his technique. He uses oil paint diluted with a good proportion of white spirit. Not all tutors recommend this as it’s quite toxic. The use of glazes was quite interesting. I looked at students’ final portraits and found none who had employed Alan’s technique, was this because you need great patience to make the tiny brush strokes? There’s no doubt that his portraits are stunning, but oil paint cries out to be blended not applied in with such restraint.

gostei bastante do curso apenas considero que, quando me inscrevi, pensei que a abordagem fosse mais a criação de um retrato encontrando as suas formas com a tinta e não copiando com o papel vegetal, não estamos a pintar, estamos a preencher os espaços entre as linhas com tinta. de resto, gostei da preparação da cor, a utilização de poucas tintas para encontrar o tom correto. obrigada :)
