Final project: Cinematic Digital Illustration with Photoshop

Using one of Izzy's own photographs as a reference, I observed, interpreted, and tried to retell a story by adding different characters and creating a relationship between them and their environment.

I used Photoshop and one of Izzy's own photographs as a reference.

I started by blocking in shapes, adding texture and color variation, adding lighting, and rendering details that would help me tell my story, guided by Izzy's insights on how she sees and understands the world after illustrating it for so long (this is the best way I can describe how it felt to learn from her and follow the course). Then I added my characters and used some Photoshop tools to enhance the image and the story (grain, color correcting, etc). All while checking contrast and focus using a B&W layer and thumbnail size from time to time.

Then, using the tips and tricks provided by the course, I exported the artwork in different versions and created different frames to showcase my work online. Finally, I dared to post it on my Instagram, something I’ve been struggling to do with other artwork.
