In the historic village of Hawarden lies our award winning Farm Shop, pub, restaurant and events space. Together they're known as the Hawarden Estate Experience.
The aim here is do things the right way, with a clear focus on quality, sustainability and fun.
We want to put Hawarden on the map; to serve our local community and encourage visitors to explore this beautiful corner of Wales.
To that end we think we’ve created one of the best farm shops anywhere. Our pub, The Glynne Arms, was AA Welsh Pub of the Year 2019, and our beautiful events venue, Hawarden Castle Pavilion, is hosting outstanding weddings and events most weeks.

In 2008 the old structure was replaced with what you see today so we could do what we loved on a larger scale.
We built a butchery, a deli, a bakery a café and a food hall. All totally committed to sourcing and providing the finest locally produced food.
We have always strived to be at the forefront of what we do and our belief in the importance of sustainability has only grown stronger.
In March 2020 the shop was closed due to the pandemic, and we used the time to step back and think about how we could continue to improve...
We reviewed all of our suppliers to make sure that they completely aligned with our values. With the help of Damian Clisby, we redeveloped our café menu to include more produce grown on the estate.
We built our own bakery and we planted YQ grain next to the shop to bake our bread with.
Our butchery suppliers were examined and we made a vow to only serve meat traditionally butchered by us behind the counter.
The historic Walled Garden, just a few hundred yards from the shop, was revitalised and is now used to grow produce to be sold in the shop.
The list of improvements goes on...
The result is a Farm Shop like none other, where every corner of every part of the business has been put under the microscope to ensure that we are doing all that we can to uphold our values.

Hawarden Estate Farm Shop
Sitting within thousands of acres of working farmland on the edge of the storied and historic village of Hawarden, our farm shop champions great produce from the earth, trees and fields around us.
From the 1980s to 2008 the shop existed as a tiny wooden shack adjacent to the 20 acres of pick-your-own orchards which still produce fruit today.

The Glynne Arms
Located in the heart of Hawarden village, our AA Welsh Pub of the Year features menus overseen by former Chef Director at Michelin Starred Petersham Nurseries, Damian Clisby.

The Glynne Arms has been at the heart of the historic village of Hawarden for over 200 years.
Led by former Chef Director at Michelin Starred Petersham Nurseries, Damian Clisby, former Global Project Manager for Bill Granger’s international collection of restaurants, Caroline Gladstone, and Director of Food and Sustainability Xanthe Gladstone, the food at The Glynne Arms is exceptional.
Great food is nothing without a great drink beside it. So we’ve stepped up our game and selected the very best Welsh, biodynamic and natural wines, as well as curating a list of excellent craft beer, real ale and a collection of outstanding house cocktails, too.
Built in c.1812, The Glynne Arms was named after The Glynne family, owners of Hawarden Estate at the time. In 1839 Catherine Glynne married Prime Minister William Gladstone, who’s family would later come to reacquire the pub and undertake a complete refurbishment in 2012. History is in the bones of this place.
From front of house to the kitchen, right the way through to the butchers and beekeepers at Hawarden Estate Farm Shop, our teams are passionate about serving delicious, simple food and drink in an environment you won’t want to leave.

Hawarden Castle Pavilion
Hawarden Castle Pavilion is a truly remarkable place. It sits nestled between two historic castles of national importance, overlooking wild flower meadows and ancient woodland.

With its views of two castles and set in rolling historic parkland it’s easy to understand why the pitch was so loved by the Hawarden’s cricketers, but in 2016 the club moved to a new site half a mile away.
The Pavilion has now been beautifully renovated to become one of Wales’ most unusual and beautiful events spaces and wedding venues. With two large events rooms, amazing views, full access to 2.75 acres of cricket pitch, a fully-equipped kitchen, a separate bar in the score hut and brilliant showers and loos the venue is available for hire.
Hawarden Cricket Club was established in 1865 with Prime Minister William Gladstone playing his first match in 1867. In the early days of the cricket club a tent was used as a pavilion which was soon replaced by a corrugated iron structure. In the 1920s the current building was built by the Gladstone family and given to the club.
The building has been renovated to the very highest standards without losing any of its storied past and is a place that guests will never forget.
