A great course. A bit short but very interesting

Tommy Kim approaches plein air in a simple straightforward way so that everyone could find value and helpful hints at any part of the process. Tommy’s skill with color is superb, spontaneous, and astounding. I would enjoy learning more about how he approaches this aspect of his painting.

I really enjoy to see how Tommy Kim work with urban sketch, capture everyday life and observing nature outside with his gouache paint. I like it very much that it is a well organized course. I really enjoy to see his painting process, and the way he teach a process (initial sketch, value, different color palettes). Thank You, Tommy Kim, thank You very much!

this course presents valuable lessons and tips (complementary colors, the gouache paint box...), but i think it could be a little more detailed. I wanted to see more about the color mixing to build the neutral tones... it was very interesting, but it would be clearer with more info and explanation. Besides that I enjoyed the course.

I learned a lot from this well organized course. He outlines and demonstrates a very effective process - initial sketch, value studies, trying different color palettes based on choosing a "big idea". It's fascinating to see his painting process. I wish he explained mixing complementaries to make harmonious neutrals more clearly. What little feedback he gives to students is thoughtful but he seems to be on the community forum very rarely. I found that disappointing.

So far I love the teacher but there are some things that I find lacking as I start the course. 1) following along is not really smooth because the materials list doesn't list the colors & doesn't include they gray toned sketchbook used & 2) not all reference images were included or shown on screen- the teacher shows how to interpret a scene into 4 values but in two of the examples we didn't see what scene or photo he was interpreting. Not up to regular Domestika standards.

I didn't get to look at the course for quite some time but, now that I have, I have thoroughly enjoyed it.

Nice course! One observation on what could have been better - A bit of more focus on the colour and colour mixing parts with some camera shots of the palette showing formation of the colour. Everything else - the pace, content, demonstration was excellent.

I did like this course and learned a number of things. A couple things that would have been helpful: lesson on perspective/vanishing point; name of colors on palette and colors used; file with reference photo; size of paper. Urban landscapes I think are my favorite so I just need to do more. Like having learned the steps prior to painting.

Such a well organized course! It was easy to navigate from one step to the next. Tempo and the details in the narration was perfect. As a landscape architect, this was an ideal course to step out of my graphite medium. Thank you for a wonderful course.
