Mini Chocolate Cake

I created a mini version of my favorite chocolate cake recipe after realizing a need for small batch cakes. There are times when you really only need to make enough cake for 2-4 people: a small gathering, date night, baby's first birthday smash cake, to satisfy a cake craving, or to make someone's day (even if it's your own).

I scaled the chocolate cake recipe to fit either three 4-inch cake pans or one 6-inch pan, and this is what the mini layer cake version looks like. The pastel sprinkles really stand out against the chocolate buttercream finish, and the size is just so cute. My hands are in some of these pictures so you can really get a feel for the scale.
