VDI August: Pikachu

The VDI is a monthly challenge in which a theme is selected by an illustrator, so every last Friday of the month art related to the theme or concept is published. This time the theme was selected by me, that is why it fills me with happiness to present my first theme for the challenge.

El VDI es un reto mensual en el que se selecciona un tema por un ilustrador, así cada último viernes del mes se publica arte relacionado al tema o concepto. Esta vez el tema fue seleccionado por mi, es por ello que me llena de felicidad presentarles mi primer tema para el reto.

Process

First of all, I start by creating a blocking with basic figures, which will serve as a reference to project my first idea.

Antes de todo, comienzo por crear un blocking con figuras básicas, que me sirva de referencia para proyectar mi primer idea.

I usually model the props separately and later add them to the composition.

Suelo modelar los props por separado y para mas tarde agregarlos a la composición.

With my composition of environments ready, I begin to create light configurations that project the intention of the illustration on their own.

Con mi composición de ambientes lista, comenzar a crear configuraciones de luz que proyecten la intención de la ilustración por si solas.

Added the characters as close to their final poses

In this step I only make the renders with the previous sets to decide the final lighting

En este paso solo hago los renders con los sets previos para decidir la iluminación final.

I import my selected image into Procreate to check for all flaws and possible enhancements to the illustration.

Importo mi imagen seleccionada a Procreate para buscar todos los defectos y posibles mejoras para la ilustración.

To finalize my composition I make these changes and look for some extras.

Lastly, I import my image back into Procreate to create missing graphics and extra highlights to enhance the image.

Por ultimo, importo nuevamente mi imagen a Procreate para crear gráficos faltantes y retoques de iluminación extras para potenciar la imagen.

It is always good to create extra renders before the final edit to be able to select new compositions
