Do you love the letter? Well wait to master the word. In this online course, you will learn the theoretical and practical knowledge to get closer to the world of typography. You will design your own word step by step within a typographic system, from the manual creation to double pencil until the last adjustments in the computer.

## Wat is het cursusproject?

The professors of Gliglifo will propose you a series of words taken from literature to find "their aroma" and begin to design a typeface that you can install on your computer. From there, you will already have the base to develop your own typographic system.

## Vereisten en materialen

You do not need any prior knowledge in typography to create your final project. As for materials, you will need a normal paper, vegetable paper, two pens, two rubber bands to join the pencils and a computer with the Glyphs and Illustrator software (although the course offers alternative programs to be able to work on the typography design).

## Inhoud

### Introduction

In this introduction we present the course, the exercise, and we establish the bases of the typographical function by means of examples and basic bibliography.

### Anatomy of the letter

If there is no theory, there is no practice. So we go there with the foundations of a good typographic construction. Knowledge is the back of doing; Two sides of the same coin.

### Architecture of the letter

After warming up, it is time to enter the field. Paper, pencil and you. Let's go there!

### Digitization

It's time to get down to work with the computer. At the end of this unit you will have your typographic font to use in all your work. It's not exciting?

### Microtype, diacritics and spacing

In this unit we are going to spin fine adjusting microtypegraphic details, expanding our character set with the inclusion of diacritics and most importantly if it comes last, which is the spacing.
