My project for course: Illustrating the Natural World with Watercolor and Charcoal

I think when I sketched the flower bed with Echinacea purpurea (a flower I love), I caught Willy the bee flying around looking for Maya ;-)

Unfortunately, the last exercise overwhelmed me. With each layer my colors got darker and duller. I clearly lack practice in watercolor painting. So I decided to ignore the final instructions and go back to my roots and do my last sketch with fine liner and a little watercolor only, only to leave this class with a happy feeling.

Sarah is a wonderful teacher and I enjoyed practicing - but honestly this class didn't completely fit my needs as I love to paint outdoors and this is not that practical with such a high number of layers in my eyes. More of an indoor technique? Anyhow I don't regret I took this class as I always learn :-)
