This particular piece was woven as a client commission, and it measured five feet by three and a half feet. The inspiration was the desert hills of Joshua Tree, California. This is an example of how tapestry weaving can be used to create more illustrative pieces such as a landscape. I used a variety of techniques to create the different textures in this piece, mostly looped rya as well as bubbling with thick roving. I think the results are pretty spectacular!
