La serenidad de Puerto Trumao / The serenity of Puerto Trumao

Este proyecto nace de una salida espontánea a Puerto Trumao, un pequeño puerto fluvial ubicado cerca de La Unión, Chile. Mi intención fue capturar la tranquilidad del paisaje en una tarde de invierno, donde la niebla transformó un lugar cotidiano en una escena llena de misterio y calma. A través de esta serie busqué transmitir el silencio, la inmensidad del río y los pequeños detalles que emergían entre la neblina.

This project was born from a spontaneous trip to Puerto Trumao, a small river port near La Unión, Chile. My goal was to capture the tranquility of the landscape on a winter afternoon, when the fog transformed an ordinary place into a scene filled with mystery and serenity. Through this series, I sought to convey the silence, the vastness of the river, and the subtle details that emerged from the mist.

Esperé un día en que la niebla cubriera naturalmente el paisaje, ya que sabía que crearía la atmósfera que buscaba. Más que documentar el lugar, mi intención fue capturar la tranquilidad de Puerto Trumao y, al mismo tiempo, transmitir emociones a través de las fotografías. Utilicé la niebla, la luz suave, los reflejos y composiciones minimalistas para generar una sensación de calma, silencio y contemplación.

I waited for a day when the fog would naturally cover the landscape, as I knew it would create the atmosphere I was looking for. Rather than simply documenting the location, my goal was to capture the tranquility of Puerto Trumao while also conveying emotion through the photographs. I used the fog, soft light, reflections, and minimalist compositions to evoke a sense of calm, silence, and contemplation.

La imagen presentada muestra un ejemplo del proceso de edición aplicado a esta serie. Partiendo del archivo RAW, mi objetivo fue mantener la naturalidad de la escena sin perder la atmósfera creada por la niebla. En esta fotografía ajusté la exposición y el contraste para aportar mayor profundidad, equilibré la temperatura de color para conservar los tonos fríos de la niebla y reforcé sutilmente los tonos cálidos del atardecer.

También reduje las altas luces para preservar el detalle del cielo, recuperé ligeramente las sombras y realicé ajustes moderados de color y claridad para destacar el transbordador sin perder la suavidad del paisaje. Como parte de la composición final, realicé un recorte en formato 4:5, optimizando la imagen para su publicación en Instagram sin perder el equilibrio visual de la escena.

Este mismo criterio de edición se mantuvo en las cinco fotografías del proyecto, buscando una estética coherente basada en tonos fríos, colores suaves, contraste moderado y una atmósfera contemplativa, con el fin de transmitir calma, silencio y la sensación de inmensidad del paisaje.

The image shown is an example of the editing process applied throughout this series. Starting from the RAW file, my goal was to preserve the natural look of the scene while maintaining the atmosphere created by the fog. In this photograph, I adjusted the exposure and contrast to add depth, balanced the color temperature to preserve the cool tones of the mist, and subtly enhanced the warm colors of the sunset.

I also reduced the highlights to retain detail in the sky, gently recovered the shadows, and made moderate color and clarity adjustments to emphasize the ferry while preserving the softness of the landscape. As part of the final composition, I cropped the image to a 4:5 aspect ratio, optimizing it for Instagram while maintaining the visual balance of the scene.

The same editing approach was applied consistently across all five photographs in the project, creating a cohesive visual style defined by cool tones, soft colors, moderate contrast, and a contemplative atmosphere that conveys calm, silence, and the vastness of the landscape.

A continuación presento el resultado final de este proyecto: una serie de cinco fotografías realizadas en Puerto Trumao. Todas las imágenes fueron editadas siguiendo una misma línea estética para mantener coherencia visual y transmitir la tranquilidad, el misterio y la atmósfera que caracterizaban el paisaje durante esa tarde de niebla.
