### Introduction

Hello! I am Martina Flor and in this course I am going to tell you my techniques to create complex and decorative typographical compositions with lettering. 

 Maybe you know me from other Domestika courses, like ["The golden secrets of lettering"](https://www.domestika.org/es/courses/35-los-secretos-dorados-del-lettering/martinaflor) o ["Freelance: keys and tools to succeed being your own boss "](https://www.domestika.org/es/courses/178-freelance-claves-y-herramientas-para-triunfar-siendo-tu-propio-jefe/martinaflor) Anyway, in this first unit, I'll tell you briefly who I am and what I do. I will also explain what the course project will be and most importantly: How to interpret a client's briefing. 

 Through real examples I will accompany you to simulate together a professional assignment and arrive at unique final results.

### Draw and improve the composition

Have your pencil, tracing paper, and white sheets ready. In this unit I will explain my hand drawing technique and how to improve the first sketches until the drawing is ready to be digitized.

### Digitization

Now that you have scanned your sketch by hand it is time to start drawing with vectors! In this unit we will carry out the digitization of your design step by step. You will need your computer, a mouse or drawing tablet and Adobe Illustrator. Let us begin!

### Add Texture

In the real world, all objects have texture. In this unit we will see how to add it to your design. Making a correct use of this resource will allow you to achieve much more realistic pieces to counteract that flat, homogeneous and cold print of the digitized sketch. Let us begin!
