Expressive watercolour Squirrel

Introduction

Supplies
I used 4 watercolours colours… magenta, lemon yellow, indigo and black
Background wash
Add the background wash with foreground elements. I masked off an area which required a foreground leaf.
Start painting the squirrel
I started painting the squirrel using wet into wet and layering techniques
Complete the squirrel
I worked on the squirrel and completed his body continuing to paint using 4 colours
Complete the Squirrel
I added tone to the squirrel and made final adjustments to him.
Finishing touches
I blended in the 2 areas by adjusting the tones and making additional marks with a rigger brush and splashes to add pockets of interest to the area.
