My project for course: Creating a Compelling Animated Illustration in Adobe Fresco

I used many different sources for this illustration. I knew I wanted to make something with moving waves, as in nautical scenes in old theatrical settings where wave props were moved back and forth or rolled. I settled on the Baron Munchausen scene because I have loved those stories for many decades. I watched a 1929 Russian cartoon of Baron M, studied lots of theater drawings and historical diagrams, looked at mechanical theater reproductions, the first Baron M film around 1965 and Terry Gilliam’s 1988 film. A Mardi Gras float and a couple of mermaids sneaked in.
