For this project, I rolled out a soft slab of clay on a smooth surface. I then cut a long rectangle and a circle out of the clay.
I chose a handmade feather stamp for this project and stamped the whole surface of the rectangular slab.
I then wrapped the slab around a form and joined the two ends.
Next, I added the circular slab to form the bottom of my mug.
Once the cup was leather hard, I added the handle.
The mug was dried slowly then bisque, glazed, and fired.
Playing with the dimensions of the rectangle slab and the textures I press into that slab makes this project very versatile and one I come back to often.
