Microsurgery of a Rat

This illustration depicts a (fictional) microsurgery of a rat and was made as an exercise in creating a complex and detailed surgical illustration without having real-life references. I used an artificial model of a rat in addition to surgical instruments, rat anatomy text books, (my own) hands and images of gloves and rats. Based on these references I created a line drawing putting all the elements together. The drawing was rendered using carbon dust & graphite pencil and then colored digitally.
