My Linocut Journey

Although drawing is my favourite art medium, I am also a self-taught linocut printmaker. I've started working with linocut in 2015 after watching some online tutorials, and I was immediately hooked!
My first attempts were very simple, one- or two-layer reduction prints, but as I started to understand the technique my projects became more ambitious. I discovered I could combine the multi-block and reduction techniques to create complex designs.
A good linocut takes a lot of planning, patience and meticulous work, particularly in the carving stage. The printing is quite labour-intensive – almost like a full body workout! – but the entire process is really satisfying and final result is always so rewarding!

Above everything else, what I love about linocut is that it allows me to print my own Christmas cards, with my original designs, which is something I have been doing ever since I started working with this medium. It is really nice and special to be able to send my friends and family something hand-made for Christmas!

'Cubic Maze II' won an honourable mention at the 2016 BIMPE small print biennale in Vancouver, Canada.
In 2017, my print 'Facade' was awarded an honourable mention by the jury of Awagami print biennale in Japan.
