Yusuf Amod is a South African-born visual artist based in Dublin. Yusuf completed his level 8 BA (Honours Degree) in Photography in 2017 at the Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art Design & Technology. Yusuf's work is shot mainly in black and white and deals with themes such as portraiture, landscape & identity and his influences include photographers such as George Tice, Masao Yamamotto, and Miho Kajioka. My current project My work currently focuses on the theme of a vast family archive photographs of an Indian family living in my native homeland of white apartheid South Africa. The archive belongs to my Grandfather. In confronting this archive I attempt to rediscover my heritage and preserve his legacy and tell the unknown story of my family. My dummy book titled ‘Wait a bit wait a bit’ combines archival family photographs and handwritten memories in an attempt to conserve and reconnect my family unit fractured by death and the loss of loved ones.
