Ana Rita Silva

Hello to all, my name is Ana Silva, I'm from Portugal, and I'm currently living in Berlin.
I have been drawing throughout my life, took a degree in Painting at the Fine Arts University of Porto and then started learning tattooing by myself, almost two years ago. Now I want to pursue the dream of becoming a full time tattooer, hence being on the search for more info, while I look for an apprenticeship at a tattoo shop. My background studies influenced my drawings in tattooing, but my research into the tattoo world also changed my view in drawing quite a lot. From expressionists and surrealists painters who work from real life motifs and emotions (like Van Gogh, Monet, Matisse and Cruzeiro Seixas) to contemporary tattoo artists in different realms of styles, where my favourites go from the boldly saturated color work of the traditional american style, to the japanese linework and soft coloring, to the ignorant vibe that's flooding the tattoo world now (which I love especially for its inherent freedom and humour), but also experimentalist tattooers, that work around the expression of altered/self-made needles and original techniques, as well the connection to the client's direct tattooing experience in focus. Some references I would point out are: Ruco, Haillim H., Caleb Kilby, Luxiano, Tay Rodriguez, Sarah Schor, Elliot Gamer, Nissaco, Chimhwasa and Toothtaker.
