Ra Mise

I'm an adult learner of art. I've been using cartooning to connect with my inner child and heal from chronic illness. I started learning art by correspondence when I was forty-two years old in 2002.
I like reading graphic novels. My favourites are 'Blankets' by Craig Thompson and 'Blue' by Pat Grant.
I watch @TenHundred and @JakeParker and @Kesh on Youtube. I love children's books and my very favourite artist / author is Shaun Tan.
I like quirky, imaginative characters and I like telling their stories.
I've been assisting other adult learners of art to get in touch with their inner child through playful comic making activities. I'm on Instagram @ra_mise I'm looking forward to this course with Silvia. I've also joined three more courses with the aim of improving my knowledge of story telling through pictures, for adults and children.
in March 2020 I began my first exhibition at a local cafe, it's been well received and I am currently working on more of my cartoons to frame and exhibit there and elsewhere in my region. My art is commonly described as 'quirky and whimsical'.
