I started this pop-up book years ago but never put it into a binding. This course inspired me to finish it. The content is based on an episode by Charles Fourier, 19th century socialist. I translated it from French in collaboration with Shawn P. Wilbur (who coindentally is also a bookbinder). We called it "The World War of Small Pastries." It is an anti-war parody, with some salacious side themes. It was published by Autonomedia in 2015.
For the binding I made the case in my usual way, using binders' board, and I cut out a small window for the title. One of the most useful tools I learned from the course is paper backed double sided tape. I didn't want to put the finished book in the book press, so I taped the end pages to the case instead of using PVA which I feared would encourage warping.
