I used a 5mm 3-strand cotton rope.
Attached to wood with the larks head knot.
I created the shape of the eye with an extra piece of rope attached using the 1/2 hitch knot.
Rya knots to fill in , and I also use 1/2 square knots to create more texture under the eye before the last fringes.
The colour wheel was a piece of cotton wrapped jute I had created for a different project, and I just wanted to bump up the colour palette of the piece.
The end of the piece I simply unravelled the cotton rope. I thought about brushing it out, but I felt it worked best with the general look and feel of the piece.
I thought about filling in the top of the piece, but I decided against it, as I didn't want to lose the shape of the eye with more fringe above. I may consider using vertical 1/2 hitch knots, but who knows. :)
I love this piece.
Cheers,
EJ
p.s., I am working on a round piece out of wire and I'll be implementing more of what was taught in the course.
