Bag of Tricks

For my final project I chose basketball as the theme. The idea was to make an open backpack (bag of tricks) and some terms and basketball players coming out of the bag.
I tried to look for my own style with the use of slightly sharpened lines and geometric shapes.
Since I didn't use as much organic forms in the illustration, for the text I chose to use an existing font that matched the theme and style.
During the brainstorming session I wrote several terms and players from the basketball world, which later became part of the final project. I used some images as reference for the drafts and sketches. For example, combining Godzilla with a player dunking, Dunkzilla is created.
I made different coloured options:
A colourful one, where I followed Mauro's advice and toned the grays. The final result of this option pleased me very much.
I also created an option with a reduced palette, formed by a gray scale and just one vibrant color: green.
And finally, a monochromatic option in B&W, which later served as a basis for silkscreening the illustration on T-shirts.

Raphael, ficou excelente!!! Você conseguiu fazer o desenho ter várias camadas. Os elementos, alguns maiores, outros menores, uns por cima de outros. Está bem dinâmico, dá pra perceber bastante movimento na composição. Gostei disso. Testar paletas de cores é sempre bom. Talvez fique legal tonalizar um pouco os cinzas com um pouquinho de cor. Mas eu já gosto dessa paleta, para ser sincero :)
Uma dica minha, mas pode ser algo totalmente pessoal e não necessariamente você deve seguir: Eu tentaria desenhar toda a tipografia à mão também, para ficar em harmonia com a ilustração. Pode até já usar a tipografia atual como base mesmo e desenhar por cima, só para que se tenha tudo desenhado, inclusive os textos.

Acabei optando por usar uma fonte. Pra ser 100% sincero faltou um pouco de confiança haha. Vou tentar uma nova ilustração com a fonte desenhada. Mas achei q a fonte mais dura poderia combinar com alguns elementos em que usei formas mais puras (retângulos e círculos) onde usei as ferramentas de forma e não o desenho livre. Mas com certeza a fonte desenhada da bem mais personalidade para a ilustração.
Sobre as cores estava testando alguns filtros e vi que poderia ficar bem bacana tonalizar o cinza (talvez puxar pra um azul).
Estou com alguns temas já na cabeça e quando tiver outra ilustração pronta posto aqui novamente tentando incorporar as sugestões!
