Good afternoon everybody.
As my personal project in this very delicate and particular global situation of the pandemic, I've organized a charity art/artisan auction in favor of the Community Foundation of my city, through Instagram.
In short, any artisans or artists interested could help by auctioning an original work of them. I decided a day the auction had to take place, made a simple list of roles and how to participate and started advertising it on social networks a week before, to gain participants.
Everyone had basically to publish a photo of the work they were offering on their Instagram profile with an auction base of € 50, with a small description and the hashtag of this initiative, and whoever wished could make a bid by commenting under the post with an offer. the Highest bid made before the 12.00 of the next day, won. All the works could be visible under a hashtag, in my case called #artistiperbrescia (artistsforBrescia) so that anyone that might have discovered the project from a private artist profile could also have a look, and eventually make a bid, to others works on sale.
In 24 hours the project made/collected more then € 20,000 for our hospitals, with the participation of over 170 artists/craftsmen which had given for free one of their work for this cause.
I would never have believed it, but as Ji Lee taught us in this course, I was also contacted via a direct message from the local newspaper who wanted to write and publish a piece telling about the initiative and its result.
I have to say , my happiness for this free participation of creatives and craftsmen in my project is much greater than the work underlying the initiative. It was amazing to see the answer and the satisfaction that a none person like myself, could actually do good and had such an important and unexpected response.
