BACKGROUND
The word pedophilia immediately generates repulsive and uncomfortable images in our mind. However the definition of the word is NOT a child sex offender. It refers to someone’s sexual orientation. We cannot control our feelings, desires, sexuality or gender, but we CAN decide to control our actions. Some pedophiles are very aware of their own condition and could never dream of molesting a child. Little is known about this population, because pedophiles cannot come out of the closet…or can they?
Nací Así is a controversial short film that aims to create debate and shed light on this poorly explored but highly sensible theme.
SYNOPSIS
This film tells the story of 30-year-old Cristian, who only feels sexual and emotional attraction towards 5-8-year-old boys. However Cristian has never touched or abused a child nor does he want to. He is completely aware of his condition and fully understands the pain and trauma he would cause the child. Out of fear of how society might react to his sexuality, he lives a married life with his wife Ángela, but an unforeseen event makes Cristian decide to leave his wife. 20 years of therapy and a very awkward first date later, Cristian, now an older man, decides to come out the closet and to return to his family. But he is faced with a very unexpected surprise.
