The film is sleazy, raunchy, sultry but soft.
The rest is FRENZY !!.
We had given up on the idea of filming on film stock long ago, but some ideas
stick around and come back to you from time to time. In that place between
creative drive and format is where the great challenge of creating images is
born.
We had just finished filming a music video with expired film stock brought from
New York and we were thrilled with the result. The texture and imperfections
offered far more than just pure aesthetics.
We were mainly attracted to the texture and color palette ektachrome had, a film
stock that was discontinued decades ago. We started hunting for some rolls
scattered all over the globe.
Finally one day having lunch in a greasy bar with the crew we always work with,
the distinct appearance of the place took a hold of us. Earthenware pots,
porcelain figurines and an exhilarating smell of the 70s, the social and cultural
liberalization, Herschel Savage, Ginger Lynn and Softcore. Winter brought us to
wool, soft sex and instrumental music, merging that wonderful expired stock film
with a licentious and sex filled story framed in the 70s’s atmosphere.
We procured ourselves with an Arri Sr3 and a Zeiss zoom lens. We were only
missing the soundtrack: we found a record label called Lovemonk who has the
freshest bands around and so they introduced the electronic punk jazz rock
cinematic danceable sound of ‘Forastero’.
