I was committed to illustrate a nanimarquina's kilim rug by hand, for Disney pop-up exhibition, in Somerset House in London.
The Nomad rug mesures 170 x 240 cm, it is totally handmade and customized with inked Mickey faces according to my memory from various periods.

A unique collab,
We’re delighted to be part of Halo Living exhibition in Somerset House, London.
The exhibition is a showcase of recent collaborations between Disney and outstanding ateliers and brands such as Lanvin, Marc Jacobs, Anya Hindmarch and also collaborations in Home with Terence Conran, Zaha Hadid and Ingo Maurer. For this collaboration with Disney, nanimarquina has chosen iconic Mickey Mouse, representing the intrinsic values of the brand: simplicity, modernity, excitement, and surprise. Our respect for tradition and our love for simplicity lead us to choose the Nomad rug, made with the finest Ghazni wool from Afghanistan. This hand-woven kilim provides a special softness and density. The Nomad rug evokes uncomplicated textures and an awareness of the importance of small details.
The rug is customised by Julien Missiaen author of sorry_board , with a freehand print created with watercolour ink, depicting a classic version of early Mickey Mouse. Nani Marquina emphasizes, “I wanted to pay homage to the early days of animation; the grandeur and the magic of illustration that ensured that no two identical Mickeys existed”.
