Early in the year I was contacted by Colombian jewellery designer Mercedes Salazar. She finds endless possibilities when designing her exotic jewellery pieces. Since studying the art of jewels and jewelry making in Mexico, Salazar designs and constructs her pieces through her fundamental principle of preserving artisanal techniques in Bogota. This new collection features 6 bird species from the caribbean and south america. As every birds comes with its own story, the idea was to generate specific backgrounds that relate with each ecosystem where these species can be found.
I took inspiration from bird postage stamps as they feature a lot of information about birds and its ecosystem. The colours, composition and the way elements are arrange always guide me when working on this kind of projects.
Bellow you will see all of the images I produced for "Aves del paraiso", a new collection of earrings created by colombian jewellery designer Mercedes Salazar. The collection includes 6 different species of birds and I was in charge of designing specific landscapes (backgrounds) based on the ecosystem where each bird lives. You can find the whole collection on www.mercedessalazar.com
