Summary of the Checkout Split Test
- Initial Setup: I first established the test workflow and pricing to ensure that all key conditions regarding effort, cost, process, approvals, and test duration were met, and that all project participants were informed.
- Exploratory Data Analysis: I conducted an exploratory data analysis using SQL queries, funnel analyses, and several user surveys to gather insights
- Pattern Identification and Hypothesis Formation: Based on the collected data, I summarized patterns and derived test hypotheses on a component basis.
- Wireframing Alternative Designs: I created wireframes of alternative design approaches and components for the existing design.
- Implementation of Test Designs: I implemented the alternative test designs, set up the test environment, parameters, durations, and statistical confidence levels.
- Test Launch and Initial Evaluation: I launched the test and began evaluating the initial findings.
- Test Analysis and Recommendations: I analyzed the test results and derived next steps and recommendations.
- Post-Test Documentation: I documented the post-test results for all stakeholders.
Note: Automatically update average conversion rate and estimated daily visitors from the data collected in this test for better estimates over time. This applies after some visitors have become a part of this test and converted for this goal.
The test was run for longer. The lesser improvement you want to be able to detect with confidence, the more visitors you'll have to include in the test.
