I personally prefer a sketchy look to most of my drawings, and I like to keep my outlines matching with the item it surrounds most of the time (e.g. green mountain, green outline). So I used my rough sketch (uploaded in the forum) as a colour-fill reference for a lighter shade of that item, then using a darker colour on a clipping mask, colour in manually to have that colour pencil effect. After filling in the colour, then did I go over with the outline. It was a play on clipping masks, opacity, shadings and luminous brushes for this piece of work. The background was done using traditional oil painting blend and experimenting with layering and colour modes.
I've learnt tons of useful tips for drawing kawaii characters and worlds from Becky and I thoroughly enjoyed the course. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience with us. I guess now it's off to discover the style that's uniquely mine for the long-run. ^^
