Hardcover Guide

The design showcased here was created in response to the issue arising at London College of Communication's book arts and design workshop – due to the complex nature of bookbinding procedures the students struggled with remembering some of the (often detailed) instructions.

This was exemplified in the process of making a hardcover where every step is technical and specific.

Grafa collaborated with type and print technology staff to develop a system which would help both the students and the teachers.

We produced bespoke, printed guidebooks with vector infographics and instructions of how to make a hardcover. These were designed to be sewn into the books prepared by the students – being a literall part of their hardcover while guiding through the process.
