Celestial Celebration

Coming from an art background, I love getting inspiration from various eras of art history. Inspirations for this cake combines cherubs and floral garlands from Renaissance frescoes, ornate ceiling molding from Rococo and Baroque architecture, and an elaborate garden trellis painted on as a background.

I experimented with a new technique with this cake, wanting to incorporate a dimensional element without having it completely three-dimensional. This technique also helped define a more recognizable foreground and background.

Medium: Royal icing and edible coloring on fondant, gumpaste orchids and berries, desiccated spaghetti
