PLANNING PROGRAM
The Municipality of Ráckeve is looking for a new function for the building of the former town hall, which was built in 1901 and is currently empty. The building is built on the site of the medieval town hall.
Its special feature is that the basement of the medieval building has been preserved. In 2009, the tower, originally built as a fire tower in the axis of symmetry of the main façade, was opened as a lookout.
The building is listed monument. (Identification number: 7274, Registration number: 7233)
In addition to the reconstruction and renovation of the building, a planning program necessary for the renovation must be created, as a result of which the building fits in a contemporary way. A slight expansion is unavoidable.
CONCEPT
When looking for the new function, the first consideration was to map out what the city needs. Ráckeve's urban development strategies include the expansion of the House of Culture, as the city has no theater or cinema, no larger community lecture halls and the surrounding music school has no concert hall, and the existing house of culture is quite small. In response to these needs, I would like to create a smaller event center on the ground floor. The lookout tower would still be open to the public, and it would still be possible to get married in the first-floor ballroom. So far, there have been rental offices on the first floor, and I would not abolish this function, but rather promote it by creating a suitable and modern work environment.
I would turn the gardens behind the old town hall into a communal space and frame it with the inner courtyard of the building. Apart from the time of the performances, the inner courtyard would also be the scene of urban community life.
Most of the new elements appear on the western façade, the II. replacing the space bombed during World War II.
I will place a bridge that will restore the original system of the building to provide a passage. An elevator and a ramp are also being built for accessibility. In addition, landscaping will create an auditorium to serve garden presentations and programs, and I would even eliminate the meter difference between the ground floor and the ground level to ensure an easier walkthrough between indoor and outdoor.
