Mi Proyecto del curso: Ebanistería: construcción de muebles con herramientas manuales

Aquí voy a compartir en detalle el proceso de mi proyecto final para este curso. Os ire mostrando algunas fotografías paso a paso.

Tras plasmar la idea en un boceto sencillo con las medidas aproximadas de mi fututo proyecto, comece a preparar la madera, cortandola y cepillandola. Elegí madera de roble y fresno para la carcasa y el cajón, así como un alistonado fino de pino para la trasera.

Let's get started!

After drawing the idea in a simple sketch with the approximate measurements of my future project, I started to prepare the wood, cutting and planing it. I chose oak and ash wood for the carcass and the drawer, as well as a thin, stripped pine for the back.

Tras tener todas las piezas dimesnionadas, comenzó la parte que más me gusta del proceso, los ensambles. Marqué primero las colas de milano en los laterales de la carcasa, tras serrarlos con la sierra de costilla los ajusté con los formones, bien afilados.

After I had all the parts dimensioned, I started the part I liked the most of the process, the assemblies. First I marked the dovetails on the sides of the carcass, and after sawing them with the rib saw I adjusted them with the chisels, well sharpened.

Una vez las colas o lazos estaban bien ajustados a la linea del cuchillo, transferí estos en las piezas superior e inferior del mueble para obtener los dientes. Tras el marcaje, sierra de costilla, sierra de marquetería y ajsutes con formón. Despues tocaba ajustar las medidas de las estanterias con la medida obtenida de mi carcasa y realizar las ranuras para colocar las estanterias. Una estanteria funcionará como parte superior o hueco del cajón y la otra como simple estante. Luego encolé todo el conjunto y pase a preparar el cajón.

Once the tails or loops were well adjusted to the line of the knife, I transferred them to the upper and lower pieces of furniture to obtain the teeth. After the marking, rib saw, scroll saw, and chisel sawing. Then, it was time to adjust the measurements of the shelves to the measurements obtained from my carcass and make the grooves to place the shelves. One shelf will work as the upper part or hollow of the drawer, and the other as a simple shelf. Then, I glued the whole thing together and prepared the drawer.

Para elaborar el cajón, parto de la realidad de mi carcasa y adapto las piezas, frente y ñaterales a mi hueco. Despues reazlizo el mismo proceso que en la carcasa con la unica diferencia de que en este caso, los ensambles del frente del cajón con los laterales son colas de milano ciegas. La trasera del cajón lleva el mismo ensmable que las estanterias. La ranura para colocar el fondo del cajón la realizo con un cepillo de ranuras. Tras una prueba de encolado (sin cola) y tras ver que todo esta bien, encolo el cajón. Una vez cura la cola, podemos limpiar y ajustar el cajón.

To make the drawer, I start from the reality of my carcass and adapt the pieces, front and sides, to my hole. Then I repeat the same process as in the carcass with the only difference that in this case, the assemblies of the front of the drawer with the sides are blind dovetails. The back of the drawer has the same cable as the shelves. The groove to place the bottom of the drawer is made with a groove planer. After a glue test (without glue) and after checking that everything is OK, I glue the drawer. Once the glue has cured, we can clean and adjust the drawer.

Para la trasera uso un alistonado de pino comprado, del cual he seleccionado la parte sin nudos y mas estable, veta de la madera lo mas recta posible. La corto y ajusto en la ranura trasera de la carcasa y la fijo con tirafondos.

For the back I use a purchased pinewood, from which I have selected the most stable and knotless part, the grain of the wood as straight as possible. I cut it and fit it into the rear groove of the housing and fix it with lag bolts.

Ya tengo mi armario hecho!! solo falta el toque final, el acabado. En este caso uso un acabado facil y rápido, aceite de la marca Odie´s oil. Es muy faciol de aplicar y funciona muy bien.

Now I have my wardrobe done!!! All that's missing is the final touch, the finish. In this case, I use a quick and easy finish, Odie's oil. It's straightforward to apply and works well.

La piezas de ebananistería realizadas con herramientas manuales llevan su tiempo y recquieren de paciencia, la unica herramienta que no se compra pero que se cultiva. Cada nuevo proyecto, cada nueva madera, cada nuevo ensamble nos enseña un poco más. El truco esta en hacer, cometer fallos, volver a hacer, siempre disfrutando del proceso.
